Literature Text

Build me a time machine,
Made with stones of withered dreams.
Take me back to an old memory,
One that's still and saccharine.

Now my former joy dies,
As stratus pollutes the skies.
Though I know you're there cause the stars shine,
As they reflect your bright eyes.

Hesitating, I'm vacillating,
I'm not ready for this.
Concentrating, I'm contemplating,
If only I was more cognizant.

Can you hear,
My unvoiced sigh,
As the harsh chill freezes my chords.
Reappear,
Don't pass me by,
I've been waiting,
Don't let me down.

The peaks lay down to sleep,
Yet the orbs around do creep.
Those memories into my mind seep,
But those pictures I can't keep.

Perhaps we've met before,
When the clock's midnight bells roar.
You take my hand and lead out the door,
Forgotten when it turns morn.

Hesitating, I'm vacillating,
I'm not ready for this.
Concentrating, I'm contemplating,
If only I was more cognizant.

Can you hear,
My unvoiced sigh,
As the harsh chill freezes my chords.
Reappear,
Don't pass me by,
I've been waiting,
Don't let me down.

Watch the memoirs today,
And see their seeds washed away.
Even though the visions go astray,
I hope they forever stay.

Driving by the debris,
Perceiving what I have seen.
It's clear that I have my time machine,
You just didn't come with me.

Hesitating, I'm vacillating,
I'm not ready for this.
Concentrating, I'm contemplating,
If only I was more cognizant.

Can you hear,
My unvoiced sigh,
As the harsh chill freezes my chords.
Reappear,
Don't pass me by,
I've been waiting,
Don't let me down.
Just another song.

Good rhythm and excellent vocabulary. The subject was a bit vague, but perhaps you want that. I was totally impressed and drawn in by the word "saccharine". That's excellent for a teen poem.

"It's clear that I have my time machine,
You just didn't come with me." is sad.
